    While many people think that smaller breeds don’t need as much exercise as large breed dogs, it’s important that these puppies get the physical and mental stimulation they need. Always do your research before adopting or talk to a local vet if you are unsure.

    Highly adaptable Yorkshire Terriers are among one of the smallest breeds, standing just six or seven inches tall. These lapdogs are perfect for snuggling up on the couch.

    At just 12.5 inches tall at most and weighing around 10 pounds, the Miniature Pinscher is also among one of the smallest breeds in the world.

    Shih Tzu are classified in the toy group in most countries due to their size. Typically, a Shih Tzu will grow to between eight and 11 inches at a weight of nine to 16 pounds. Also, as with most toy breeds, Shih Tzus mature quickly, reaching adult size at around 10 months.
