
In light of a vicious dog attack in Wexford earlier this week, local concerns have been raised about what local authorities are doing to meet their responsibilities towards owners of restricted breeds.
On Sunday, nine-year-old Alejandro Mizsan was attacked and later hospitalized after being attacked by a pit bull mix.
Even before this recent attack, local dog warden Nuala McNamara had spoken to the avondhusaying that reports of dogs being restrained without a muzzle and/or a proper leash were on the rise locally.
“You can’t walk through town now without seeing several of these muzzleless dogs. You have to have these dogs muzzled in public. People think they are the family pet and they won’t do any harm, but they can do serious damage…” Nuala said.
