No doubt Unexplored has been one of Sony’s most prolific IPs in recent times. In fact, he made the leap to the big screen last year with the eponymous film starring tom holland.
However, since Naughty Dog They are very clear that the history of the franchise Unexplored you are done with the last released game; and they have no plans to extend it.
In addition, his speech also touches on the possible development of The Last of Us Part IIIa game that will only come true if they succeed create a story that captures a universal message of lovejust like the previous two games.
These were the words of Neil DruckmanStudio CEO, in an interview with BuzzFeed:
“I know a lot of people are wondering if The Last of Us Part 3 will come true or not. What I can say is that we are a very, very privileged studio because our publisher is Sony. This means that Sony supports us, we are part of Sony. They’ve supported every step we take and follow our passions, but people believe that just because something is successful we’re compelled to make a sequel. That is not the case. For us, Uncharted was incredibly successful, Uncharted 4 was one of our best-selling games, and we were able to end the story and say it’s over,” Druckmann said.
Thus, Naughty Dog is very clear that there will be no new story arc within the Uncharted story and that they will not return to work with the franchise.
For now, the only game Naughty Dog is officially working on is The Last of Us multiplayer, which will introduce us to new characters never seen in this universe, accompanied by a new story.
