Four staff members working at a veterinary clinic named the one breed of dog they would never own.
Alta Vista Animal Hospital in Texas shared a video on Instagram under the username @avahvet asking staff what kind of dog they wouldn’t bother to keep.
In the clip, the woman behind the camera asked the staff the same question, and each responded with the same answer.
Surprisingly, they all chose the popular shar-pei breed, a type of dog best known for its excessive amount of wrinkles, because they tend to be quite slimy around strangers.

In the comments, the clinic revealed why the veterinary staff chose this breed specifically.
“They can be super aggressive and reactive. We had one like that today so it was on everyone’s mind,” the clinic wrote.
While these dogs look cute and are recognizable on Purex toilet paper, they can be incredibly defensive and aggressive, as the breed was once a hunting dog.
According to Vets Choice, Shar-Peis require an experienced dog owner to “nurture a healthy, well-balanced Shar-Pei.”
These dogs are also prone to a number of health problems, including hip and bone dysplasia, hypothyroidism, skin allergies, and skin fold infections.
They also tend not to be friendly to new people, but they don’t require a lot of exercise.
Since then, the video has been viewed more than 3.3 million times and thousands couldn’t help but agree.
“Sharp pei fever as a result of over breeding their wrinkles…don’t find them aggressive even though they can be dense at times,” one person commented.
“Unfortunately the vets are right, I have friends who work at different clinics and they all agree that shar-peis are aggressive towards strangers,” added another.
A third said: ‘Wow, I had no idea!’
It follows after another vet listed the top five dog breeds I would never consider owning.

Alabama-based vet Dr. Whitney Terrell shared her five best and worst dog breeds in a viral TikTok clip that divides viewers.
Dr. Whitney Terrell, from Alabama, caused a stir online after sharing types of dogs she would never have because of her background as a vet in a now-viral TikTok video, with the popular Goldendoodle, or poodle mix, topping her list.
Second are German Shepherds and Belgian Shepherds, also known as Belgian Malinois, which, according to Dr. Terrell, require a lot of training to be good pets, something she just doesn’t have time for.
He went on to add that he also doesn’t recommend keeping short-nosed dogs like French bulldogs, pugs, and shih tzus because of their respiratory issues.
The animal doctor then shared her most beloved dogs, including Golden Retrievers, mixed-breed puppies, and Basset Hounds.

The animal doctor caused a stir after sharing her least favorite types of dogs based on her veterinary experience with the popular Goldendoodle, or poodle mixes, topping her list.

Dr. Terrell’s list also included German Shepherds (left), which she said can be aggressive if not properly trained, as well as Chihuahuas (right), which she called “ankle biters.”
Dr. Terrell said that while some poodle crossbreeds are “super sweet,” they “can’t sit still” and are prone to a number of health conditions.
“Many of them are crazy, crazy, hyperactive, they can’t sit still for two seconds. We have also had some very aggressive ones,” she said.
‘Wazoo ear infections, grooming so expensive, they are mixed breed. Too high maintenance for me.
At number two on Dr. Terrell’s list was a German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois, which she says can be aggressive if not properly trained.
“They have the potential to be really great dogs, good police dogs, good rescue scenarios, but 95 percent of the ones we see in the clinic want to bite your face because they’re not properly trained,” he said.
Any breeds that are brachycephalic, meaning they have shortened or ‘squashed’ muzzles, such as pugs, Boston terriers, French Bulldogs, or Shih Tzus, were not recommended by the vet.
“Some of them are so cute and sweet, but they can’t breathe, they literally can’t breathe,” she said.
‘They snore, I already have a husband who snores, I don’t need anything else. Dermatitis in skin folds, allergies, fungus, bad smell, gas, it’s a no from me.
Dr. Terrell said she doesn’t like Chihuahuas, which she called “ankle biters,” as well as Chinese crested dogs and any other hairless dogs.
